BUTTOCK LIFT

Firstly, bottoms come in different shapes, determined largely by your genes (not your "jeans"!), some shapes are considered more sensuous than others. However, all will change shape, lose firmness and drop with age. A buttock lift is designed to raise and re-shape the bottom by removing excessive amounts of loose or sagging skin in this area. It may also be performed in conjunction with other body contouring procedures such as liposuction, a thigh lift or an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

The Surgery

The operation is performed under general anaesthesia. Surgery may involve some liposuction followed by excision of the excess skin leaving a scar around the waistline area. Drains may be placed and the skin is closed with dissolvable stitches and dressings applied.

Aftercare and follow-up

Following surgery, your buttocks will feel tight, with some bruising and swelling you may have drains in place and would normally be discharged the day following surgery although this may be longer if further surgery was performed in conjunction. You may be discharged with a support garment and an appointment will be made to be seen one week following surgery.

Possible complications

Like all operations this procedure can have complications such as bleeding, haematoma formation (blood clot underneath the skin), infection, a stretched scar and asymmetry (difference between left and right). A small percentage of patients (normally less than 5%) may require a small revision procedure to improve the scar at a later stage.
